School-Based Health Centers
Description
A school-based health center (SBHC) is a health clinic on a school campus operated by a medical sponsor and staffed by a Health Assistant, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and a Mental Health Provider. CHD has operated a SBHC clinic at La Grande High School since 1986 and at Union High School since 2011.
Students are not responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses at the SBHC except for sports physicals and immunizations (third party services, such as laboratory tests, will be billed directly by those agencies).
Both SBHC clinics are open during the school year. Appointments are recommended for medical services, but walk-ins will be worked in whenever possible. Mental health services generally require an appointment.
