Tutoring kits are available and include a set of supplies and lessons to use at home between now and the start of school.
There are 30 lessons that take only 10-15 minutes each, so there is still time to get through the whole thing with a little daily practice between now and September. Please contact Jess Hagedorn at hagedoj@eou.edu

INCIDENT AT GRH CONSTRUCTION SITE
This is an update to the release from Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at 07:16am about the individual threatening self-harm at the GRH construction site.
After nearly six hours of negotiations, at approximately 10:45am, unfortunately, the individual jumped from the crane tower. Within moments emergency medical personnel began rendering aid and transported the individual to the Grande Ronde Hospital Emergency Department. He has since been transported by air to an out of area hospital.
An investigator from La Grande PD was in contact with the individual’s family throughout the situation. Out of respect for this individual and his family, his identity will not be released.
A coordinated effort between the first responder community, Center for Human Development, Grande Ronde Hospital, and the La Grande School District has been initiated to ensure assistance is provided to staff who may have been impacted by this incident.
We urge anyone who witnessed this incident and feels the need to talk to someone, to please contact the Center for Human Development crisis line at 541-962-8800.
The hearts and minds of the members of the La Grande Police Department are with the impacted family. We are also extremely grateful for the professional assistance received from members of the La Grande Fire Department, La Grande Rural Fire Department, Union County Emergency Services, Union County Search and Rescue, Center for Human Development, La Grande Public Works Department, Grande Ronde Hospital, La Grande School District, and the Bouten Construction Company.

THREAT OF HARM INCIDENT AT GRH CONSTRUCTION SITE
This morning, Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at approximately 05:19am, officers from the La Grande Police Department responded to the Grande Ronde Hospital construction site to a report of a male who had climbed on top of the crane. Officers were able to quickly determine that the individual was threating to harm himself by jumping off of the crane.
A command post has been established in the 700 block of Sunset Drive. A crisis counselor and trained LGPD crisis negotiator have been communicating with the individual. Several intersections in the area have been closed in an effort to minimize both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Although there is no known threat to the public, we are asking people to stay away from the area to help facilitate a safe resolution. Access to emergency care at GRH has not been restricted.
Although the individual’s identity is known and we will not be releasing it at this time, he is not associated with the Grande Ronde Hospital or Bouten Construction, who is the general contractor at the work site. This is an active and on-going situation, so no additional information will be released at this time.
The La Grande Police Department is being assisted by La Grande Fire Department, Union County Emergency Services, Grande Ronde Hospital, and the Center for Human Development.
While we recognize the inconvenience to the community and hospital patrons, we are asking for patience as we work through this situation.
