Students at Island City Elementary were all smiles Tuesday morning as they gathered in the school cafeteria for a special treat — a pancake breakfast cooked by none other than their principal, Mr. Smith!
The celebration was held in honor of the school’s outstanding 95% attendance rate for the month of October, a milestone that reflects the dedication and enthusiasm of both students and staff. To show his appreciation, Mr. Smith traded in his suit and tie for an apron and spatula, flipping pancakes for every student in the school.
“The kids worked really hard to be here every day, and this is my way of saying thank you,” said Mr. Smith. “Good attendance is the foundation for success, and our students are proving they’re committed to learning and being part of our Island City community. the kKids and families work really hard to be here every day.”
